Jonathan Harbour where living in PARADISE is a WAY OF LIFE!
Jonathan Harbour is a gated community located on beautiful Connie Mack Island, Florida just east of the Sanibel Causeway and Punta Rassa.
With two pine preserves we've had nesting eagles for years. This page is dedicated to some Eagle Education for those interested in this species whom we've loved and admired right here in our community.
Eagle season in Florida is October through May. Our adult eagles tend to leave our area in June after the eaglets fledge and return early August.
Some terminology:
BRANCHING: In the weeks before the eaglets fledge, they will spend time flapping and hopping to the branches surrounding the nest.
FLEDGING: Leave the nest.. A fledged eaglet is defined as “capable of coordinated, sustained flight”.
TRIVIA
We collected some Eagle Trivia from the Florida Audubon Eagle Watch Program.
We had twins this year! They fledged in late April with reports of them flying over the marina but returning to the nest for feeding.
2020
